Storing Baby Food & Bottles While Traveling
Storing baby food at home is one thing. Doing it in a car, on a plane, or at a relative's house for the weekend is a different challenge entirely. The two questions that come up most are how to store baby milk powder once you're away from your usual kitchen setup, and how to store baby food while traveling without it spoiling before your baby actually eats it.
Milk powder itself is fairly forgiving before it's mixed. Pre-measuring individual servings into small, sealed containers before you leave the house saves you from carrying the whole tin, and keeps each portion sealed until you're ready to use it. Once it's mixed with water, treat it the same as you would at home: use it within an hour, or refrigerate it and use it within 24 hours if you have access to a fridge.
Bottles are the other piece of the puzzle. After sterilizing, bottles should be stored somewhere dry and covered until use, ideally in the sterilizer itself if you're only a few hours from your next feed, or in a clean, sealed bag if you're heading out the door. A dedicated changing bag with insulated compartments makes this a lot easier to manage; our Changing Bags & Pads collection includes options built with exactly this kind of day out in mind.
The goal isn't to overthink every outing, it's to have a system that works without you having to remember every rule while you're also managing a baby. Once you've got the right bag and containers, the rest becomes routine.
